Samuel Jacob Alifa, also known as Sammie, an ex-Big Brother Naija star who has been accused of defrauding a man of ₦4.45 million by promising to help him get an appearance on the reality TV show.
A user going by the handle @AssistantEbukaa made this accusation in a tweet that was posted on the well-known social media site X (previously Twitter).
A video featuring the face of a man identifying himself as Emmanuel was included in the post. The video’s introduction says:
“BBNaija star Sammie took almost ₦5 million from this guy, promising it would push him to become a contestant during the audition, but the audition just ended and he wasn’t even selected.”
“Now, he’s frustrated after spending such an amount. Sammie has since stopped communicating with him, despite promising that the money would be refunded if it didn’t work out.”
In the video, Emmanuel narrated his ordeal, claiming Sammie approached him with an offer to help him become a contestant on the show, repeatedly asking for money to facilitate the process.
He said things got so bad financially that Sammie advised him to take a loan.
In a desperate bid to meet Sammie’s demands, Emmanuel took the loan and eventually sold his car just to repay the debt.
According to him, “My name is Emmanuel. I was scammed of ₦4.5 million by my brother from Kogi State, Samuel. He advised me to get a loan. At the end of the day, I had to sell my car to pay back the loan. What hurt me the most is that I wasn’t just scammed by a random person, but by someone I trusted and considered a brother.”
